Supper with Jesus

Supper with Jesus

Growing up the nighttime meal was referred to as “Supper”. What a cool word, I love it. I have so many good memories associated with the word “Supper”. I can hear my Grandma,  Mom, Dad or some relative say “Supper’s ready” and the good times would start. Everyone sitting around a table with food just enjoying each other without any pressure.

Dinner on the other hand was a more formal event. Usually if we were going out to a dinner we had to dress up and be on our best behavior. Dinner was kind of stiff and a little uncomfortable with good food.

Dinner equals dress up and be your best, and Supper equals come as you are. With Supper there is no need to dress up, come in your work clothes just as you are and eat with your family and friends. It’s all good bruh.

Fast forward to today and the nighttime meal is pretty much always referred to as “Dinner”. Whether you are going to a formal event that requires you to dress in your best clothes, use proper etiquette and be lame, or you are wearing your favorite sandals and having a comfortable ‘Dinner” on your patio at home.

Jesus is a “Supper” kind of God. Jesus says: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Rev 3:20

He will Sup with you! Wherever you are in life Jesus is waiting for you to start a relationship with him. If your life is messy and you have some heavy things going on, that is the perfect time to bring Jesus in.

Remember He’s not formal Dinner Jesus, He’s Come as you are Supper Jesus!

  1. I love this Steve and I love your heart for Jesus and others. Such a wonderful way to share the awesomeness of Jesus. I will have supper and dinner any time with you and your beautiful family.

  2. Jesus is a groovy God indeed. I had never thought of Him as “groovy” until you cast him in that light Steve. What He did for me was gracious, merciful, generous, abundant, and down right extravagant. I guess you could say His intervention in my life was…well…it was pretty darn groovy. Thanks for the good word Steve.

      1. Hah! yes we enjoyed supping with you and your beautiful bride as well! We are very rich men for sure. Looking forward to many more suppers together!
